Seed Sowing Instructions
Sow seeds directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and soil temperatures are consistently above 70°F. Plant seeds about 1 inch deep in fertile, well-drained soil. Sow 2–3 seeds per planting area, spacing plants about 24–36 inches apart. Seeds typically germinate within 7–10 days under warm conditions. Thin to the strongest seedlings after establishment.
Plant Care Instructions
Watermelon thrives in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Water consistently during flowering and fruit development to encourage juicy sweet melons. Mulching helps retain moisture and reduce weeds. This compact variety performs exceptionally well in containers, raised beds, and small gardens. Reduce watering slightly as fruits ripen to improve sweetness. Harvest when fruits develop a creamy underside and sound hollow when tapped.
Mature Size
Plants typically spread 3–5 feet with compact bush-style vines. Fruits are personal-sized and usually weigh 7–9 pounds with bright red flesh.
