Low growing, mounding clumps of blue-green ornamental grass are excellent ground covers and front of border plants. Stress and drought will deepen the color of the grass, causing it to be more blue, so don’t overwater and give them good drainage. Blue fescue compliments many other annual and perennial flowers, especially pink flowers such as dianthus, which can tolerate low water. Also pairs well with moss rose, ice plant and portulaca. Grows 10” tall and does best in full sun with well-draining soils. Perennial in USDA hardiness zones 4-7.

Seed sowing instructions: Sow seed indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost date on the surface of a moistened, good seed-starting mix. Cover seed lightly with fine grit or seed-starting mix, provide light and keep moist, in warm temperatures, 70-75 degrees F. They can then be transplanted out when large enough to handle and temperatures stay above freezing. Alternatively, seed can be sown outdoors after all danger of frost.
